Offended Leave

In a free society, government exists, at most, to protect people's rights, and should neither provide for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one else.

George Dorunda

Important Quotes

Weather Channel Founder: Global Warming 'Greatest Scam in History'

It is the greatest scam in history.

Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.

There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril.

Greenland Ice Find Debunks Al Gore's Global Warming Theories

A painstaking analysis of surviving genetic fragments locked in the ice of southern Greenland shows that somewhere between 450,000 and 800,000 years ago, the world's largest island had a climate much like that of Northern New England. Butterflies fluttered over lush meadows interspersed with stands of pine, spruce, and alder.

The discovery of organic matter in ice dating from half-a-million years ago offers evidence that the Greenland ice shield remained frozen even during the earth's last "interglacial period" -- some 120,000 years ago -- when average temperatures were 9 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than they are now. That's slightly higher than the average temperatures foreseen by most scientists for the end of this century.

Global Warming: The Cold, Hard Facts?

Global Warming is not due to human contribution of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). This in fact is the greatest deception in the history of science.

There is no evidence that we are, or could ever cause global climate change.

The theory of Global Warming assumes that CO2 is an atmospheric greenhouse gas and as it increases temperatures rise. It was then theorized that since humans were producing more CO2 than before, the temperature would inevitably rise. The theory was accepted before testing had started, and effectively became a law.

Record Low Temperatures

Sounds more like Global Cooling than Global Warming.

Al Gore still says global warming is a planetary emergency.

South America this year experienced one of its coldest winters in decades. In Buenos Aires, snow fell for the first time since the year 1918. Dozens of homeless people died from exposure. In Peru, 200 people died from the cold and thousands more became infected with respiratory diseases. Crops failed, livestock perished, and the Peruvian government declared a state of emergency.

Unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007. Johannesburg, South Africa, had the first significant snowfall in 26 years. Australia experienced the coldest June ever. In northeastern Australia, the city of Townsville underwent the longest period of continuously cold weather since 1941. In New Zealand, the weather turned so cold that vineyards were endangered.

Last January, $1.42 billion worth of California produce was lost to a devastating five-day freeze. Thousands of agricultural employees were thrown out of work. At the supermarket, citrus prices soared. In the wake of the freeze, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger asked President Bush to issue a disaster declaration for affected counties. A few months earlier, Mr. Schwarzenegger had enthusiastically signed the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006, a law designed to cool the climate. California Sen. Barbara Boxer continues to push for similar legislation in the U.S. Senate.

In April, a killing freeze destroyed 95 percent of South Carolina's peach crop, and 90 percent of North Carolina's apple harvest. At Charlotte, N.C., a record low temperature of 21 degrees Fahrenheit on April 8 was the coldest ever recorded for April, breaking a record set in 1923. On June 8, Denver recorded a new low of 31 degrees Fahrenheit. Denver's temperature records extend back to 1872.

Recent weeks have seen the return of unusually cold conditions to the Northern Hemisphere. On Dec. 7, St. Cloud, Minn., set a new record low of minus 15 degrees Fahrenheit. On the same date, record low temperatures were also recorded in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Extreme cold weather is occurring worldwide. On Dec. 4, in Seoul, Korea, the temperature was a record minus 5 degrees Celsius. Nov. 24, in Meacham, Ore., the minimum temperature was 12 degrees Fahrenheit colder than the previous record low set in 1952. The Canadian government warns that this winter is likely to be the coldest in 15 years.

Putin rival held in psychiatric ward 'to prevent him protesting against government'

Artem Basyrov's detention is the latest in a series of incidents suggesting a punitive Soviet-era practice is being revived under president Vladimir Putin.

Mr Basyrov, 20, was ordered to be held at a hospital in the central region of Mari El on November 23, a day before planned demonstrations, said Alexander Averin of the opposition National Bolshevik Party.

His case is the latest example of journalists or opposition activists being involuntarily committed to psychiatric hospitals in Russia.

During the Soviet era, dissidents were frequently committed for protesting against Soviet policies.

The Global Initiative on Psychiatry, a Dutch watchdog, says psychiatry continues to be used for punitive, political purposes in Russia.

Bush Sells Out America at U.N. Conference

While Americans were fretting over steroid use in baseball and the upcoming Academy Awards, the Bush Administration agreed to work with the U.N. toward a 2013 arrangement that would subvert the U.S. to the global warming agenda, funded by a global carbon credit tax.

The President who doesn't want to raise domestic taxes on the American people will leave a legacy of global taxes.

"I'm in favor of reducing global warming, because I think the most important emission we need to control is the hot air emission of politicians who pretend one thing and don't deliver," said Alan Keyes.

10-Year-Old Ocala Florida Girl Charged With Felony For Eating Lunch

This student brought a steak to school for lunch along with a small kitchen steak knife to cut it. She was using the knife for that purpose to eat her lunch in the cafeteria. Teachers took the utensil and called the sheriff.

Several students told the deputy that the girl never tried to hurt or threatened anyone with the knife. "She did not use it inappropriately. She did not threaten anyone with it. She didn't pull it out and brandish it. Nothing of that nature," explained Marion County School Spokesman Kevin Christian.

The student now faces a felony charge for the possession of a weapon on school property and the principal suspended her for ten days.

School officials said it doesn't matter what the knife was being used for. They said they had no choice.

Of course they had a choice. They could have employed their brainpower and thought about the situation sensibly. Zero tolerance equals zero thought. And, these are the people who are responsible for educating the young people of Florida. This is another example of government school idiocy and gross mismanagement in Florida Government at multiple levels.

Prevent Global Warming - Pee In The Ocean

Urea is in urine. The idea is to pump the urea into barren areas of the ocean on the edge of the continental shelf to stimulate the growth of plant plankton. Phytoplankton absorb carbon dioxide from sea water. Fish eat them and when they die some fall to the bottom, potentially removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

If the dead fish fall to the bottom of the ocean, won't the ocean levels rise?

Neil Diamond tells secret about 'Sweet Caroline'

He said that President John F. Kennedy's daughter Caroline was the inspiration for his smash hit. He claims a photo of the president's daughter struck him, then "a little girl dressed to the nines in her riding gear, next to her pony."

Now, if I do the math correctly, Caroline was nine years old at the time. The song has lines like:

"Touching me, touching you"

"I look at the night, And it don't seem so lonely, We fill it up with only two"

A nice 50th birthday gesture but probably not the precise inspiration for the song.

They have also been told to attend drug counseling. Another example of government school idiocy.

Global Warming vs. Climate Change

Global Warming alarmists have switched form "Global Warming" to "Climate Change." The reason: For the past three years, global temperatures have been falling.

They're still making the same predictions - they just move the dates farther back.

It's like those millennarian religious cults in the 1800s. Religious leaders would arise who would predict the Second Coming of Christ in 1838. When Christ didn't oblige them by showing up, they went back to their visions or scripture calculations or whatever they claimed and report that they miscalculated, now it was going to be 1843.

All the computer models are wrong. When you run their software with the data from, say, the 1970s or 1980s, and project what should happen in the 1990s or 2000s, they project results that have absolutely nothing to do with the known climate data for those decades.

The real climate scientists have found a very close correspondence between global climate and variations in the amount of radiation the Earth receives from the Sun. The light and heat we get varies depending on the distance and position of the Earth and the amount of radiation the Sun puts out. The Earth's distance and position seem to determine the big cycles - the Ice Ages - and the Sun's variations seem to determine the smaller climate cycles.

There was a global warming period during the heyday of the Roman Empire. It must have been all of those SUV chariots.

The climate of the northern North Atlantic has warmed and cooled nine times in the past 12,000 years in step with the waxing and waning of the sun.

The human-emitted carbon dioxide hypothesis is made ludicrous by the fact that most of the warming since the 1860s occurred before 1940, an era when human CO2 emissions were not significant. And we had significant global cooling between then and 1970, precisely the period when CO2 emissions were steeply rising.

We can't stop global warming or cooling. We simply don't have the power to do it. We can't heat up or cool down the sun. Our business should be to adapt to the unavoidable solar-caused warming, not to destroy the worldwide economy in order to prevent something that human activity is not causing.

The Sun Linked To Global Warming

Over the course of the Earth's history, the main factor driving changes in its climate has been that the amount of energy from the Sun varies, either because of wobbles in the Earth's orbit or because the Sun's power output changes.

Over the last century the Sun has been unusually active - which means fewer cosmic rays, and a warmer climate on Earth.

Go figure.

THE DEMOCRATS' HIDDEN TAX PLANS

Once the Democrats firmly control both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue, they will probably:

Raise the top bracket on the income tax back up to 40 percent from its current 35 percent.

Increase the Capital Gains Tax from its current 15 percent to 30 percent or, perhaps, eliminate it entirely and tax these gains as ordinary income (at 40 percent).

Double, triple or perhaps eliminate the ceiling on FICA taxes so that instead of taxing only the first $99,000 of income, the levy covers a much higher portion of earned income.

Repeal much of the rollback in estate taxes passed by Bush.

The combined effect of these increases will be horrific, and will probably trigger a recession. As Election Day 2008 nears, it is easy to anticipate massive sell-offs of stocks and real estate in anticipation of a Democratic increase in capital gains rates.

The Future Of Our Healthcare Under HitlaryCare

Surgeons at Westmead Hospital are "sitting around doing nothing" because for the past fortnight they have been directed not to undertake any elective surgery, a doctor says.

…All surgeons were told by administration not to book any patients.

"We're still working, still being paid, but you're sitting around doing nothing," said the doctor, who did not want to be named.

The doctor also complained that because the hospital told surgeons every week to cut down their patient list, he was often finished his surgery work by 10am and the theatres were empty.

He said his surgery team got a phone call from administration almost every week about a week ahead telling them to book only two patients, instead of five or six, on their surgery day, which he said relieved pressure on bed availability and kept cancellation figures down.

The college's spokeswoman, Fiona Gillies, said it was a budget-cutting exercise, not for maintenance, because the operating room was the most expensive part of the hospital to run.

"We don't see it as being cancelled because it wasn't ever booked in the first place," she said.

Al Gore's Convenient Untruths

A High Court judge in London has turned film critic, highlighting "nine scientific errors" in Al Gore's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.

The judge set out nine alleged errors in the film in which statements were made that were not supported by the current mainstream scientific consensus.

ERROR: Gore asserted that a sea-level rise of up to 20 feet would be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland "in the near future". The judge said: "This is distinctly alarmist and part of Gore's "wake-up call". It was common ground that if Greenland melted it would release this amount of water - "but only after, and over, millennia." The judge added that "the Armageddon scenario he predicts, insofar as it suggests that sea level rises of seven metres might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus."

ERROR: The film had also asserted that low-lying inhabited Pacific atolls "are being inundated because of anthropogenic global warming" - but there was no evidence of any evacuation having yet happened.

ERROR: The documentary had also spoken of global warming "shutting down the Ocean Conveyor" - the process by which the Gulf Stream is carried over the North Atlantic to western Europe. The judge said that, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it was "very unlikely" that the Ocean Conveyor, also known as the Meridional Overturning Circulation, would shut down in the future, though it might slow down.

ERROR: Gore had also asserted - by ridiculing the opposite view - that two graphs, one plotting a rise in C02 and the other the rise in temperature over a period of 650,000 years, showed "an exact fit". The judge said that, although there was general scientific agreement that there was a connection, "the two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts".

ERROR: Gore had asserted that the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was expressly attributable to global warming. The judge said this had "specifically impressed" the Environment Secretary David Miliband. But the scientific consensus was that it cannot be established that the recession of snows on Mt Kilimanjaro is mainly attributable to human-induced climate change.

ERROR: The drying up of Lake Chad was used in the film as a prime example of a catastrophic result of global warming, said the judge. "However, it is generally accepted that the evidence remains insufficient to establish such an attribution. "It is apparently considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability."

ERROR: Gore ascribes Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation in New Orleans to global warming, but there was "insufficient evidence to show that."

ERROR: Gore had also referred to a new scientific study showing that, for the first time, polar bears were being found that had actually drowned "swimming long distances - up to 60 miles - to find the ice". The judge said: "The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm."

That was not to say there might not in future be drowning-related deaths of bears if the trend of regression of pack ice continued - "but it plainly does not support Mr Gore's description."

ERROR: Gore said in the film that coral reefs all over the world were bleaching because of global warming and other factors. Separating the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such as over-fishing, and pollution was difficult.

Sunshine Project Uncovers US Military "Gay Bomb"

The proposal came from the Air Force's Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, which requested $7.5 million to develop a so-called "gay-bomb."

If completed, the bomb would release a chemical aphrodisiac "and by virtue of either breathing or having their skin exposed to this chemical... soldiers would become gay." This would cause their units to break down as the troops "became irresistibly attractive to one another." In addition to a "gay bomb" the proposal also mentions using chemicals which could make bees angry so that enemy forces would be attacked not only by our troops but also swarms of stinging insects.

Control Your Own Health Care

We'd each be better off if we paid all but the biggest medical bills out of pocket and saved insurance for catastrophic events. Truly needy people would rely on charity, not government, because once government gets involved, unintended bad consequences abound.

They have more yearly physicals. Because they're saying, 'If I keep myself healthy, in the long run, I'm going to be spending less money.'"

70-YEAR-OLD GREAT-GRANDMOTHER CHARGED WITH FAILING TO WATER HER LAWN AND RESISTING ARREST

Betty Perry was cited by Officer James Flygare of the police's Neighborhood Preservation Unit for failing to water her lawn. Perry refused to give her name to the officer and, when Flygare tried to stop her from going back inside her house, she reportedly tripped and injured her nose.

City officials pressed charges against Perry on the landscape violation, a class C misdemeanor, and interfering with a police officer, a class B misdemeanor.

Unruly Schoolboys’ Prank Could Be Labeled And Forced To Register As Sex Offenders

The two boys tore down the hall of Patton Middle School after lunch, swatting the bottoms of girls as they ran -- what some kids later said was a common form of greeting.

But bottom-slapping is against policy in McMinnville Public Schools. So a teacher's aide sent the gawky seventh-graders to the office, where the vice principal and a police officer stationed at the school soon interrogated them.

After hours of interviews with students the day of the February incident, the officer read the boys their Miranda rights and hauled them off in handcuffs to juvenile jail, where they spent the next five days.

Now, Cory Mashburn and Ryan Cornelison, both 13, face the prospect of 10 years in juvenile detention and a lifetime on the sex offender registry in a case that poses a fundamental question: When is horseplay a crime?

I’m glad there is a statute of limitations on similar school pranks.

Czech Republic President Denounces Global Warming Propaganda

Vaclav Klaus Wrote:

As someone who lived under communism for most of his life, I feel obliged to say that I see the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity now in ambitious environmentalism, not in communism. This ideology wants to replace the free and spontaneous evolution of mankind by a sort of central (now global) planning.

Does it make any sense to speak about warming of the Earth when we see it in the context of the evolution of our planet over hundreds of millions of years? Every child is taught at school about temperature variations, about the ice ages, about the much warmer climate in the Middle Ages. All of us have noticed that even during our life-time temperature changes occur (in both directions).

I agree with Professor Richard Lindzen from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who said: “future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early 21st century’s developed world went into hysterical panic over a globally averaged temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and, on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to contemplate a roll-back of the industrial age”.

The issue of global warming is more about social than natural sciences and more about man and his freedom than about tenths of a degree Celsius changes in average global temperature.

As a witness to today’s worldwide debate on climate change, I suggest the following:

Small climate changes do not demand far-reaching restrictive measures

Any suppression of freedom and democracy should be avoided

Instead of organising people from above, let us allow everyone to live as he wants

Let us resist the politicisation of science and oppose the term “scientific consensus”, which is always achieved only by a loud minority, never by a silent majority

Instead of speaking about “the environment”, let us be attentive to it in our personal behaviour

Let us be humble but confident in the spontaneous evolution of human society. Let us trust its rationality and not try to slow it down or divert it in any direction

Let us not scare ourselves with catastrophic forecasts, or use them to defend and promote irrational interventions in human lives.

Prison Officers Charged With Stealing Cow

Property Owners Win One

John Stossel scores one for opponents of eminent domain abuse.

The "takings" clause in the Constitution's Fifth Amendment says government cannot take private property "for public use without just compensation." I object to anyone having his property taken by force, but at least traditionally, this power of eminent domain ("superior ownership") was limited to the building of highways, bridges and parks -- things meant for general public benefit. But over the last 40 years, governments have redefined "public use" to include private use that they argue has public benefit. Towns began to condemn properties said to be "blighted" and hand them over to private developers, who promised higher tax revenues and jobs.

Who pays? The taxpayers and property owners who are forced to sacrifice for the "common good."

The Many Myths of Ethanol

John Stossel sets the record straight.

If ethanol's so good, why does it need government subsidies?

The claim that using ethanol will save energy is another myth. Studies show that the amount of energy ethanol produces and the amount needed to make it are roughly the same.

And because ethanol degrades, it can't be moved in pipelines the way that gasoline is. So many more big, polluting trucks will be needed to haul it.

More bad news: The increased push for ethanol has already led to a sharp increase in corn growing -- which means much more land must be plowed. That means much more fertilizer, more water used on farms and more pesticides.

A University of Minnesota study shows that even turning all of America's corn into ethanol would meet only 12 percent of our gasoline demand.

OK, but it will cut down on air pollution, right? Wrong again. Studies indicate that the standard mixture of 90 percent ethanol and 10 percent gasoline pollutes worse than gasoline.

Virtually all studies show that the greenhouse gases associated with ethanol are about the same as those associated with conventional gasoline once we examine the entire life cycle of the two fuels.

Surely, ethanol must be good for something. And here we finally have a fact. It "is" good for something -- or at least someone: corn farmers and processors of ethanol, such as Archer Daniels Midland, the big food processor known for its savvy at getting subsidies out of the taxpayers.

Climatologist says, "It is time to attack the myth of global warming."

Climate change will be considered a joke in five years time, meteorologist Augie Auer told the annual meeting of Mid Canterbury Federated Farmers in Ashburton this week.

Man's contribution to the greenhouse gases was so small we couldn't change the climate if we tried, he maintained.

"We're all going to survive this. It's all going to be a joke in five years," he said.

The other greenhouse gases: carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, and various others including CFCs, contributed only five per cent of the effect, carbon dioxide being by far the greatest contributor at 3.6 per cent.

However, carbon dioxide as a result of man's activities was only 3.2 per cent of that, hence only 0.12 per cent of the greenhouse gases in total. Human-related methane, nitrogen dioxide and CFCs etc made similarly minuscule contributions to the effect: 0.066, 0.047 and 0.046 per cent respectively.

Phone companies levy new fee for not making calls

Now some phone companies are adding a new line item to monthly bills: a charge for not making long-distance calls.

The category of customers affected by the new fee is the shrinking subset of people who have no-frills home-phone service and don't pay for a long-distance-calling plan.

"The bottom line is: They're trying to push people onto one of their long-distance plans," said John Garrison, an engineer with the Public Staff, North Carolina's consumer advocacy agency. "They get a monthly recurring charge from most of these plans. And if you don't use any long distance, that's profit in their pocket."

Regulators require phone companies to provide basic local-phone service. The phone companies have to give customers a way out of the new monthly fee _ but they will charge another fee to eliminate the first fee.

The few, the proud, the sponsors of the Fair Tax

The Fair Tax Book: Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS

The point of this particular editorial is to wonder what would motivate anyone to oppose the simplification of the tax code in such a way. The individual voter who opposes this would normally employ one of the misinformation excuses they get from their representation or the media, like the Fair Tax will raise prices or the rate of inflation, or that it discriminates against the poor, or that it rewards "The Rich" unfairly, or that it defunds Social Security/welfare/Medicare/etc.

All of those are incorrect myths of the effects of a national sales tax on new goods and services, and some of the misinformation is because of lazy journalism, but a good deal of the negative propaganda campaign against the Fair Tax is deliberate machination on the part of the powers that be. The Fair Tax website debunks every single one of the popular myths the media and many politicians cite for their opposition, and once again, since they are much more complete and exact in their work, I will refer those who either believe or proffer those myths to those who wrote the book on the subject.

The Fair Tax is revenue neutral, and even the most conservative and gloomy forecasts show it to actually generate more government revenue than the current tax structure. This means that none of the pet projects, give-aways, pork, and other darling expenditures need disappear or even diminish. All it means is that how the government gets that revenue is more transparent, and abuses to that system far more evident when they occur.

How Your Tax Dollars Are Spent

The Edifice Complex

Politicians are naming buildings after each other, and we are paying for it. John Stossel looks into this waste of our tax dollars.

Today all a congressman has to do to get his name slapped on a building is bring home enough pork.

Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott has lots of facilities named after him: a middle school, an airport, the Trent Lott Center at Jackson State, the Trent Lott Leadership Institute, and more.

West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd has even more named after him. My show, "20/20," discovered more than 30 buildings, a bridge, even a telescope.

The Lincoln Memorial didn't appear until more than 50 years after Lincoln's death. The Washington Monument came 89 years after Washington died.

I understand why politicians like having their names on buildings. It's an ego boost. And the free advertising doesn't hurt their perpetual reelection campaigns.

But you shouldn't have to pay for their monuments to themselves.

FEAR MONGERING MEDIA

John Stossel talks about media scare tactics.

Because many reporters are statistically illiterate, personal-injury lawyers get us to hype risks that barely threaten people, like secondhand smoke, or getting cancer from trace amounts of chemicals.

Newsrooms are full of English majors who acknowledge that they are not good at math, but still rush to make confident pronouncements about a global-warming "crisis" and the coming of bird flu.

Bird flu was called the No. 1 threat to the world. But bird flu has killed no one in America.

What do you think is more dangerous, a house with a pool or a house with a gun? When, for "20/20," I asked some kids, all said the house with the gun is more dangerous. I'm sure their parents would agree. Yet a child is 100 times more likely to die in a swimming pool than in a gun accident.

Parents don't know that partly because the media hate guns and gun accidents make bigger headlines.

Of course, it doesn't help that viewers are as ignorant about probability as reporters are.

NO MORE GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR

The House Armed Services Committee is banishing the "Global War on Terror" from the 2008 defense budget. Typical government approach; let's call it something less offensive. That will solve everything.

$6 a Gallon? Not Enough!

Even with gas prices that are more than two times those in the U.S., Europe is falling short of its global warming goals. If $6.00 a gallon gas is not high enough to discourage European drivers, then what would it take to make U.S. drivers cut back?

In comparison, gasoline in the U.S. is subject to federal taxes of 18.4 cents per gallon and varying state and local taxes, for a total of 42 cents per gallon on average.

Even at $6.00 per gallon, many Europeans-whose per capita incomes are lower than those in the U.S.-are willing to cut back on other things rather than cut back on driving.

Why are some of the very same legislators who complained about $3.00 a gallon gas last summer supporting measures that could boost the price far higher than that?

Fears of substantial sea level rise from melting polar ice caps, increased hurricanes and other weather disasters, and a wider spreading of malaria and other tropical diseases are proving to be exaggerations and are not part of any scientific consensus. To the contrary, evidence is building that the consequences will likely be modest.

Despite claims of a possible 18 to 20 foot sea level rise in Al Gore's documentary and book An Inconvenient Truth, the latest United Nations summary report on global warming estimates a rise of only 7 to 23 inches over the next century, and some scientists dispute the plausibility of the high end of that range. The low end of that range is comparable to the rate of change over the last century, which has occurred with few if any adverse effects.

Overall, the threat of global warming is worth addressing, but it is far from being a crisis warranting a "money is no object" approach.

Supporters of congressional efforts to restrict carbon dioxide emissions should come clean with the American public about the price tag. Given the failure of $6.00 gas to help Europe's global warming agenda, that price tag is likely to be astronomical.

GLOBALISTS GATHER IN BRUSSELS

America should impose a $1-per gallon increase in the gasoline tax as penance for causing pollution, John Deutch, former head of the Central Intelligence Agency, told the Trilateral Commission’s secret meeting here.

Deutch is most remembered for taking classified secrets home in his laptop, which led to the loss of his security clearance.

Later, CIA techies found that Deutch had been using the same computer, which contained national secrets, to surf the internet for pornography. The attorney general at the time, Janet “Butcher of Waco” Reno, declined to prosecute him.

Even in its own literature, the Trilateral Commission plays up the part that it was formed in 1973 by private citizens of Japan, Europe and North America to foster “closer cooperation”—today, that means globalization—among these industrialized regions. Since that time, the group meets throughout the year to discuss ways in which the group can advance world government.

An important weapon in their arsenal is fanning public hysteria over “global warming.”

Prius Outdoes Hummer in Environmental Damage

The Toyota Prius is the source of some of the worst pollution in North America.

When you pool together all the combined energy it takes to drive and build a Toyota Prius, the flagship car of energy fanatics, it takes almost 50 percent more energy than a Hummer - the Prius’s arch nemesis.

Through a study by CNW Marketing called “Dust to Dust,” the total combined energy is taken from all the electrical, fuel, transportation, materials (metal, plastic, etc) and hundreds of other factors over the expected lifetime of a vehicle. The Prius costs an average of $3.25 per mile driven over a lifetime of 100,000 miles - the expected lifespan of the Hybrid.

The Hummer, on the other hand, costs a more fiscal $1.95 per mile to put on the road over an expected lifetime of 300,000 miles. That means the Hummer will last three times longer than a Prius and use less combined energy doing it.

One last fun fact for you: it takes five years to offset the premium price of a Prius. Meaning, you have to wait 60 months to save any money over a non-hybrid car because of lower gas expenses.

I’ll stick with my comfortable truck.

PORK SPENDING TIED TO WAR FUNDING BILL

Almost half of the $21 billion that House Democrats added to President Bush's request for emergency war funding would go to nonmilitary spending and to pork projects. I’m sure this will keep us safer. Politicians can’t resist an excuse to squander our money.

Here is a partial list:

More than $3.7 billion in farm subsidies including $74 million in peanut subsidies and $25 million in spinach subsidies.

$2.9 billion in additional Gulf Coast hurricane relief.
$2.4 billion for social programs such as money for rural Northwest school districts, health insurance for poor children, energy assistance for poor families and others.

$1 billion to buy vaccines against a major bird-flu epidemic.

$400 million for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

$100 million in food aid to Africa.

THREE LITTLE PIGS CHANGED TO THREE LITTLE PUPPIES

Three little pigs, you see, may offend Muslims. Even an Islamic leader called this move in England "bizarre."

A school in England attempting to be politically correct toward Muslims ended up offending them even more when it changed the name of its rendition of "The Three Little Pigs."

Islamic leaders, however, condemned the move as misguided and said decisions like this were turning Muslims into "misfits" in society.

"We feared that some Muslim children wouldn't sing along to the words about pigs."

Goodswen said there was no complaint that prompted the decision, but after the move, Sheik Ibrahim Mogra of the Muslim Council of Britain called it "bizarre."

Mogra acknowledged Muslims are forbidden to eat pork, "but there is no prohibition about reading stories about pigs. This is an unnecessary step."

U.S. Representative John W. Olver, D-Amherst, MA, said the Bush administration is not adequately funding Amtrak and that continued neglect of the rail system will guarantee its demise.

The actual problem is the Imperial Federal Government involving itself in transportation as well as other businesses.

We in fact “lose more freedom” every time government interferes in business and our personal lives.

GLOBAL WARMING TREK STOPPED BY EXTREME COLD

BEST BUY MAY NOT OFFER THE BEST BUY

Best Buy's price discrepancies investigated as in-store website differs from bestbuy.com.

Customers are apparently lured into the store through sale prices offered on the company's official website. Once inside the store, employees show customers a parallel website with higher prices.

The Connecticut attorney general's office is investigating whether Best Buy is luring customers to its stores by offering attractive deals on BestBuy.com and then denying those sale prices by showing customers a separate website in the store.

Best Buy acknowledged that it operates two websites - one to shop online (bestbuy.com) and another "intra-store" website to help customers search for products in the stores. The company also acknowledged that the lines between these two sites may have gotten blurred. Company officials are reminding employees to use only BestBuy.com, and not the company's intra-store website, for checking prices.

"The problem seems to be that there are offers or prices on the Internet that the consumer has the burden of showing in the store, because salespeople aren't offering them there," Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said. "There's an obligation on the part of the retailer to provide the benefit of advertised prices."

Do your homework prior to going to any store and be sure that you are getting the same bargain that was advertised for the actual advertised price.

POLAR BEARS ACTUALLY THRIVING

Global Warming Jihadists in the media love to show pictures of the solitary polar bear that appears to be stranded on a floating iceberg. But those images may be misleading as the polar bear population is actually increasing rapidly. Perhaps they switched to Diet-Coke.

In the Davis Strait area, a 140,000-square kilometre region, the polar bear population has grown from 850 in the mid-1980s to 2,100 today.

"There aren't just a few more bears. There are a hell of a lot more bears," said Mitch Taylor, a polar bear biologist who has spent 20 years studying the animals.

SCHOOL BANS LEGOS IN WAR AGAINST PRIVATE PROPERTY AND INDIVIDUALISM

The builders of the fantasy community, Lego City, were employing the concept of private property rights. Teachers didn't appreciate that concept. Karl Marx would be proud of how the children were brainwashed into thinking the concept of private property was wrong.

A New Ethics for Legotown

Collectivity is a good thing:

"You get to build and you have a lot of fun and people get to build onto your structure with you, and it doesn't have to be the same way as when you left it.... A house is good because it is a community house."

Shared power is a valued goal:

"It's important to have the same amount of power as other people over your building. And it's important to have the same priorities."

Moderation and equal access to resources are things to strive for:

"We should have equal houses. They should be standard sizes.... We should all just have the same number of pieces, like 15 or 28 pieces."

The children gave voice to the value that collectivity is a solid, energizing way to organize a community…

All structures are public structures. Everyone can use all the Lego structures.

Lego people can be saved only by a "team" of kids, not by individuals.

All structures will be standard sizes.

Children absorb political, social, and economic worldviews from an early age.

Again, Karl Marx would be proud. Be extremely vigilant and pay attention to how your schools are indoctrinating your children.

"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual." Thomas Jefferson

"We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society." Hillary Clinton

Our republic is heading in a dangerous direction.

GLOBAL WARMING CAUSED BY THE SUN

According to National Geographic News, the Earth and Mars are warming simultaneously. Apparently, those Martians need to cut back on driving their SUVs.

How will Al Gore and his fellow Global Warming Jihadists deal with these facts?

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet's recent climate changes have a natural—and not a human- induced—cause, according to one scientist's controversial theory.

In 2005 data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps" near Mars's south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.

"Man-made greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years, but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance," Abdussamatov said.

"The solar irradiance began to drop in the 1990s, and a minimum will be reached by approximately 2040," Abdussamatov said. "It will cause a steep cooling of the climate on Earth in 15 to 20 years."

GOVERNMENT CONTROLLED HEALTHCARE

And, there are elected officials in Washington who want to control YOUR healthcare. Coming soon to your neighborhood: Deplorable Healthcare.

The Washington Post investigated conditions at the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington and discovered deplorable conditions. There was mold, filth and grime among the rats.

Our injured soldiers were waiting interminable lengths of time for the most basic services.

This is Government Health Care (Universal Health Care) at its finest. Unfortunately, 75% of Americans want Universal Health Insurance.

The purpose of insurance is to reimburse you for unexpected losses. The cost of normal health care, including the normal expenses associated with pregnancy, are not unexpected. Citizens need to budget for these expected and predictable costs just as they would budget for the normal expenses of a home or a car.

Unfortunately, the goal of the average American is to pay the first $500 of health care expenses each year. Then, someone else will magically pay for everything beyond that threshold. With Government or Universal Health Care, that would be you, the taxpayer.

A recent survey revealed that young Americans would prefer to pay for cell phone service than to buy health insurance. They expect their employer or someone else to pay for it. Disappointingly, this is all too common in our society today.

So, go and visit your neighboring government office today and see the future quality of healthcare.

The Great Global Warming Swindle

A documentary ready to roll in Great Britain is claiming the accepted theories about man causing global warming are “lies.”

Even the co-founder of Greenpeace, Patrick Moore, is shown, claiming African countries should be encouraged to burn more CO2.

Nobody in the documentary defends the greenhouse effect theory, as it claims that climate change is natural, has been occurring for years, and ice falling from glaciers is just the spring break-up and as normal as leaves falling in autumn.

"Al Gore might have won an Oscar for ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, but the film is very misleading and he has got the relationship between CO2 and climate change the wrong way round."

One major piece of evidence of CO2 causing global warming are ice core samples from Antarctica, which show that for hundreds of years, global warming has been accompanied by higher levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.

Prof Clark believes increased levels of CO2 are because the Earth is heating up and not the cause. He says most CO2 in the atmosphere comes from the oceans, which dissolve the gas.

Scientists in the programme also raise another discrepancy with the official line, showing that most of the recent global warming occurred before 1940, when global temperatures then fell for four decades.

It was only in the late 1970s that the current trend of rising temperatures began.

This, claim the sceptics, is a flaw in the CO2 theory, because the post-war economic boom produced more CO2 and should, according to the consensus, have meant a rise in global temperatures.

The CO2 theory is further undermined by claims that billions of pounds is being provided by governments to fund greenhouse effect research, so thousands of scientists know their job depends on the theory continuing to be seen as fact.

…The sun is currently in its most active phase, which would be an explanation for global warming.

"It’s ridiculous to see politicians arguing over whether they will allow the global temperature to rise by 2C or 3C."

"At the moment, there is almost a McCarthyism movement in science where the greenhouse effect is like a puritanical religion and this is dangerous."

In the programme Nigel Calder says: "The greenhouse effect is seen as a religion and if you don’t agree, you are a heretic.”

Homeowners Insurance Companies and the Dirty Secret: "Controlling Loss Severity"

A behind the scenes look at the insurance industry through the eyes of a former insurance adjuster. Your insurance adjuster, in all likelihood, is not your friend.

Whenever a person suffers a loss to their home or personal property it is devastating to that family or individual. The homeowners insurance companies do whatever they can to make it even harder on these people.

The insurance adjustment firms know if they don't get the lowest possible settlement for the homeowners insurance company that hired them, that the homeowners insurance company wouldn't give them very much, if any work in the future. The adjuster's jobs depend on them low-balling every item you own and what you include in your loss claim form.

Once you sign the papers agreeing to a settlement from the insurance company, that binds you to that contract and you no longer have any leverage to negotiate with the adjusters. Yes, they can and will negotiate with you BEFORE you sign the paperwork.

Always keep in mind that the saying "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" is very true in this area. If you call the insurance adjuster with questions or to give them information and you are asked your name and what the call is pertaining to and a "I'll check and see if he/she is in her/his office" line and then a "I'm sorry he/she is not available, can I take a message" line, you are more than likely being avoided because you didn't roll over and take their estimates and wanted to hash it out with them before they send their report to the homeowners insurance company. They know they are in control and you will eventually break and settle so you can repair your roof or have a tree removed from your living room.

Do not allow them to do this to you! Call many times a day if your messages are not being returned.

Even worse, they will eventually transfer you to an Office Manager or similar titled person. It is then this person's job to make you feel better about the situation by smooth talking you into believing they are doing the best they possibly can for you. Remember, the insurance adjuster works for your homeowners insurance company involved and they are by no means your friends.

If you are a reasonable person and asking for a reasonable settlement of your claim and you feel or know that you are being shortchanged, tell them you are going to call a lawyer first. This may be enough to get the insurance adjusters to give in a little more. If that doesn't work, consult an attorney.

FREE MONEY FOR CALIFORNIA BABIES

Having a baby? Head to California for a $500 bonus courtesy of the taxpayers.

Regardless of the parents’ financial or immigration status, every kid downloaded in California would receive $500. This money is “invested” into an account. When the child turns 18, they could withdraw the money for a house, education or to roll over into a retirement account. This program would cost taxpayers more than $283 million per year.

Republican state Senator Bob Dutton said he learned firsthand about the value of such accounts. Kiwanis Club donations funded a $200 account when his daughter, Kara, was born. The difference here is that the Kiwanis Club is a private organization and can do what they choose to do with their money. As a private organization, they are not using the police power of government to confiscate money from taxpayers.

The bottom line is if parents cannot afford to establish a $500 savings account for their own kids using their own money, they probably cannot afford to properly raise the kids.

STATEMENT PERCEIVED AS “HATE SPEECH” PROMPTS LAWSUIT

When a few classmates razzed Rebekah Rice about her Mormon upbringing with questions such as, "Do you have 10 moms?" she shot back: "That's so gay."

Those three words landed the high school freshman in the principal's office and resulted in a lawsuit that raises this question: When do playground insults used every day all over America cross the line into hate speech that must be stamped out?

Rice, now 18, said that when she uttered those words, she was not referring to anyone's sexual orientation. She said the phrase meant: "That's so stupid, that's so silly, that's so dumb."

"The district has a statutory duty to protect gay students from harassment," the district's lawyers argued in a legal brief. "In furtherance of this goal, prohibition of the phrase 'That's so gay' ... was a reasonable regulation."

Another shot at free speech and the First Amendment. You don’t have to agree with someone’s statements, but the government, including government schools, should not silence those statements because they are deemed to be politically incorrect or offensive. We are traveling down a dangerous path when we permit government to censor speech.

POLITICIANS PRIVATE JET FLIGHTS CALLED WASTEFUL

Sen. Dianne Feinstein offers plenty of tips on how California households can combat global warming, such as carpooling and running only a full dishwasher.

But one bit of information Feinstein declines to share is the number of times that she flew last year on her husband's Gulfstream jet, which burns much more fuel per passenger-mile than commercial airliners.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger also has asked constituents to do their part to conserve energy — including cutting summertime power consumption — even though he takes to the skies on leased executive jets.

A single cross-country round trip on a Gulfstream IV, or GIV, the model owned by Feinstein's husband, churns out about 83,000 to 90,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, experts say. By contrast, on a per capita basis, the average American produces 50,000 pounds from all activities in an entire year.

Schwarzenegger's office said he and a jet-leasing company are establishing a "carbon offset" program for the governor and fellow customers, retroactive to Jan. 1. Carbon offsets are bought from organizations that plant trees and support renewable energy enterprises, among other measures, to offset greenhouse gases produced by the buyers.

Feinstein, however, got the jump on Schwarzenegger. She began buying carbon offsets last year to partially cover the travel on the GIV, and will purchase enough offsets this year to compensate for all the trips.

“Carbon Offset” Program – Pay some money, plant a tree and the problem, if it exists, is solved. Only in the fantasy land of the hypocritical, political hacks.

BILL WOULD MAKE THE TERM "ILLEGAL ALIEN" ILLEGAL

"I personally find the word 'alien' offensive when applied to individuals, especially to children," said Sen. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami. Wilson said, "We don't say 'alien,' we say 'immigrant.'"

Another political hack gets it wrong. Immigration is legal while invasion is not. We are being invaded through illegal activity. By the way, why are we concerned about offending someone who is conducting an illegal activity?

She said she encountered the situation when trying to pass a bill allowing children of foreigners to get in-state tuition at colleges and universities.

So she wants to pass a bill rewarding illegal activity. This could be referred to as aiding and abetting.

"They are immigrants, through no fault of their own, not aliens," she said.

If they came here legally, they are immigrants. If they are here illegally, they are illegal invaders.

The term “Illegal Invader” works fine for me. It is actually more accurate.

FEDERAL RESERVE HELPS ILLEGAL ALIENS WIRE MONEY

Dubbed Directo a Mexico, the Federal Reserve-sponsored service allows customers without Social Security numbers to wire money through the Fed system to Mexico's central bank at little cost.

"This program undermines our nation's immigration laws and is a potential national security nightmare," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said.

The Fed offers a competitive exchange rate and charges banks 67 cents for each wire transfer to Mexico. After banks add their own fees, it usually costs customers $2 to $5 per transfer, regardless of the amount sent.

Private wire services usually charge more and add fees for larger transfers and for claiming the money in Mexico. The average cost of wiring $300 to Mexico from the U.S. was $10.40 last year, when 65.8 million of the transfers were made, according to a Bank of Mexico report.

Al Gore’s Personal “Inconvenient Truth”

Al Gore’s mansion consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh — more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh — guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

While Al Gore is entitled to use as much energy as he can afford, so is everyone else. So, enough with the hypocritical, political hack lectures about conserving energy.

SCIENTIST CALLS AL GORE'S "DOCUMENTARY" A "RIVETING WORK OF SCIENCE FICTION"

The Real Inconvenient Truth by Patrick J. Michaels.

Under the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's medium-range emission scenario for greenhouse gases, a rise in sea level of between 8 and 17 inches is predicted by 2100. Gore's film exaggerates the rise by about 2,000 percent.

In early February, Science published another paper showing that the recent acceleration of Greenland's ice loss from its huge glaciers has suddenly reversed.

The Kyoto Protocol, if fulfilled by every signatory, would reduce global warming by 0.07 degrees Celsius per half-century. That's too small to measure, because the earth's temperature varies by more than that from year to year.

President Bush proposes that we replace 20 percent of our current gasoline consumption with ethanol over the next decade. But it's well-known that even if we turned every kernel of American corn into ethanol, it would displace only 12 percent of our annual gasoline consumption. The effect on global warming, like Kyoto, would be too small to measure, though the U.S. would become the first nation in history to burn up its food supply to please a political mob.

When it comes to global warming, apparently the truth is inconvenient. And it's not just Gore's movie that's fiction. It's the rhetoric of the Congress and the chief executive, too.

MORE AMERICANS HAVE BEEN KILLED BY ILLEGAL ALIENS THAN THE WAR IN IRAQ

2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S. Yet the political hacks in Washington who are opposed to the war in Iraq, which some of them voted for in the first place (but that’s another issue), refuse to secure our borders.

Mike Cutler, a former senior special agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service (the former INS), is a fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies and an advisor to Family Security Matters (FSM). He says the high number of Americans being killed by illegal aliens is just part of the collateral damage that comes with tolerating illegal immigration.

"We are not five and a half years, nearly, after 9/11, and yet our borders remain open," the Center for Immigration Studies fellow observes. "We have National Guardsmen assigned on the border, but it turns out they are unarmed," he points out. "Their rules of engagement are very simple: if armed intruders head your way, run in the other direction."

The report from FSM estimates that the 267,000 illegal aliens currently incarcerated in the nation are responsible for nearly 1,300,000 crimes, ranging from drug arrests to rape and murder. Such statistics, Cutler contends, debunk the claim that illegal immigration is a victimless crime.

According to Springfield Personnel Director Marilyn Montagna, certain words and phrases can upset certain people, even if the speaker means no offense.

Tourist kills mugger with bare hands

Score one for the good guys!

"I thought it was a skit. But then he pointed the gun at my head and grabbed me by the throat and I thought I was going to die," Clova Adams, 54, told The Associated Press by telephone.

Suddenly, one of the tourists, a U.S. military veteran trained in self-defense, jumped out of the van and put the gunman in a headlock. The American struggled with the robber, breaking his collarbone and eventually killing him.

Motto: Don't mess with old American veterans.

No Drug Price Controls

Says John Stossel. And I agree!

The Democrats who now control Congress want to change President Bush's Medicare drug benefit to require government officials to negotiate drug prices with the pharmaceutical companies.

When Bush signed this program into law, it was the biggest expansion of the welfare state since Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. As with all "entitlement" programs, the costs will explode. Tax-financed health programs are always more expensive than promised.

We should be suspicious when someone promises benefits from a government monopoly. Government doesn't produce things. It simply uses force to move things around.

The last thing we should do is give federal officials more power. When government controls prices, it must eventually ration supplies. Consumers suffer. When the product is medicine, the results could be catastrophic.

SUCCESSFUL AND POSITIVE GUN USE

Professor Mike Adams sites a few examples. Always entertaining.

A friend I will call Steve – because that’s his real name – was recently a near-victim of road rage. Someone who perceived himself to have been cut off in traffic by Steve proceeded to follow him several miles to his home and then reach for the handle of the car door to yank him out. But the assault was interrupted when the fellow looked across the seat and saw a Glock 23, chambered in .40 caliber. He shouted “oh, that f***ing figures, can’t fight without a gun” as he ran back to his car, never to be seen again.

The guy went from zero to sixty in four point five seconds in a Subaru. The Guinness Book of World Records has been officially notified.

A friend I will call Barry – because that’s his real name – was recently a near-victim of a crack induced mugging. He had just withdrawn a large amount of money from an ATM and hopped back into his Mazda 626. A haggard looking crack addict – Barry assumed he was a drug addict because he was humming a tune by Whitney Houston, not by Merle Haggard – came running up to the door and tried to force his way into the car. Barry responded by letting him know his money was in a fanny pack, right next to his .45 Auto. After Barry looked down to secure his weapon, he looked up and saw the man running away.

The guy went 100 yards in about 8 seconds flat – give or take several seconds. The Guinness Book of World Records has been officially notified.

Florida Bill Takes Aim At Left-Lane Loiterers

I concur that some people do loiter in the left lane, traveling too slowly, and fail to shift to the right lanes. However, this merely opens up the system for more revenue raising, not traffic safety enforcement. According to this proposal, if I am in the left lane driving at or a little above the speed limit while passing vehicles and a few cars traveling behind me are tailgating, I am subject to a $500 fine, not for speeding, but for not speeding enough. Before this proposal is considered and sanctioned, they first need to raise the speed limits to avoid this catch-22 scenario.

The bottom line is we currently have laws in place addressing drivers who fail to keep right when not passing. There is no need for additional, redundant, feel-good legislation.

THE EARTH IS NOT MOVING

This is not a joke. These people believe that the earth is the center of the universe and everything revolves around the earth. The scary issue is that we have an elected official in this country, GA Representative Ben Bridges, who has introduced a bill based on these beliefs.

Levitating Globe

"An electromagnet and computerized sensor hidden in its display stand cause the Earth to levitate motionlessly in the air."

Could God have engineered something like that for the real Earth?

The Bible and all real evidence confirms that this is precisely what He did, and indeed:

The Earth is not rotating...nor is it going around the sun.

The universe is not one ten trillionth the size we are told.

Today’s cosmology fulfills an anti-Bible religious plan disguised as "science".

The whole scheme from Copernicanism to Big Bangism is a factless lie.

The earth is probably flat as well. Welcome to the wonderful world of dementia.

Global Hot Air: Part III

The unusually large number of hurricanes in 2004 and 2005 was hyped in the media as being a result of global warming. Yet, not one hurricane struck the United States in 2006 while global warming alarmists predicted even more horrific storms.

There have been periods of global warming that lasted for centuries, and periods of global cooling that also lasted for centuries. However, global warming heretics seek to silence anyone who disagrees with the political position that humans are the main cause of our present global warming cycle. The very attempt to silence all who disagree about global warming ought to raise red flags.

Libertarians in America

Free to choose, and a good thing too.

Libertarian ideas have enjoyed a surge of respect lately, helped by the collapse of Soviet central planning, the success of lower tax rates and the appeals of various figures in popular culture (e.g., Drew Carey, John Stossel and Clint Eastwood) who want government out of both their bedroom and wallet. However, very few writers have devoted much attention to the role of libertarians, a more appealing and optimistic group of thinkers, political activists and ordinary citizens who believe that respect for the individual and the spontaneous order of market forces are the key to progress and social well-being.

Flight 751, bound for Cancun with 134 passengers, sat idle for more than nine hours before they were brought back to the terminal at 5 p.m. "There was no power and it was hot," a passenger told WABC-TV News. "There was no air. They kept having to open the actual plane doors, so we could breathe."

Another passenger said, "It's like being in a soundproof coffin. You were being held hostage."

MANDATORY HEALTH INSURANCE COMING TO CALIFORNIA

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants all Californians to have medical insurance. So he's going to force them to have it. "Everyone in California must have insurance. If you can't afford it, the state will help you buy it, but you must be insured," said Schwarzenegger.

The governor also wants to enlarge the state's coverage for children by including people with incomes as high as $60,000 for a family of four. Imagine that: You can make $60,000 a year and put your kids on the dole.

Schwarzenegger is following former Republican Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney down the path of state socialized medicine. Romney said compulsory insurance would cost a person $2,400 a year. But now we know it's at least $4,560.

We don't buy auto insurance to pay for oil changes, tires and worn-out windshield-wiper blades. But today, people expect medical insurance to cover routine physical exams because someone else seems to pay the premiums. This hurts people who buy their own insurance or don't have it.

John Stossel believes that only politicians will benefit from this.

Dixie County sued over Ten Commandments Monument

A monument has been placed in front of the Dixie County, Florida Courthouse. A local businessman donated the monument, which was placed on the courthouse steps in November 2006. The monument contains the Ten Commandments.

Apparently, someone is offended by this horrific display, which has now attracted the attention of the ACLU (All Crazy Lunatics Unite). "Dixie County is, in effect, thumbing its nose at the Constitution by putting up this display," ACLU attorney Glenn Katon said.

OK. Let’s try to analyze this logically.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

Actually, it is the ACLU that is “thumbing its nose at the Constitution” as Congress has passed no law and no public funds have been used to erect this monument. I see no violation of the Constitution here. By the way, in reference to this separation of church and state nonsense, nowhere in the Constitution will you find the phrase “separation of church and state.” It simply does not exist. Additionally, nowhere on the Constitution is there any guarantee or right not to be offended.

However, I am offended by these people who seem to be constantly offended. Do I have a case?

PANIC IN BOSTON

A few weeks ago, men working for an advertising agency installed light screens in cities to promote a Cartoon Network program. These identical signs were installed three weeks earlier in nine other cities, including New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Authorities in those locations didn't freak out. However, in Boston, weeks after the promotion began, the police decided the city might be under a terrorist attack. Panic ensued. However, the panic originated from the foolish government officials in Boston.

John Stossel brilliantly analyzes the fact that excessive fear of terrorism hurts Americans.

15,000 SCIENTISTS SIGN PETITION QUESTIONING THE VALIDITY OF MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING

Global Warming Petition

We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

HITLARY WANTS TO STEAL BUSINESS PROFITS

Recently, Senator Hitlary Rodham-Clinton spoke before the Democratic National Committee and stated, “The Democrats know what needs to be done. Again, we're working to try to push this agenda forward. I want to take those profits and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to find alternative smart energy, alternatives and technologies that will begin to actually move us toward the direction of independence!”

She wants to use the police power of government to take money from a corporation to use as she sees fit. If that isn’t stealing, what is? And, she admits to making this part of her “agenda.”

Now, while Exxon Mobile made about $39 billion in profits, their profit margin was only 11.46%. And who benefits from these evil profits? A sizable portion of those investors are represented through retirement funds. These evil profits are used to write monthly checks to retirees.

BUSH PRESENTS STICKER SHOCK BUDGET

Bush proposes eliminating the deficit in five years. Instead of digging us deeper into debt, why not balance the budget this year? And, that could be a simple task. Cut spending. You may notice a line item called discretionary spending: $1.114 trillion, otherwise known as political pork. If it is not mandatory spending, then perhaps the political leaders should show a little more discretion as we don’t need to pay for these discretionary items. What a concept!

However, that is unlikely to occur in Washington with the political hacks controlling the purse strings of the government.

Then we have democratic presidential candidate John Edwards who wants us to provide health care coverage for 47 million people. And how does this political hack presidential candidate propose to pay for this health care giveaway? When asked Edwards said, "Yes, we'll have to raise taxes. GLOBAL WARMING FACTS

The earth is in a natural cycle that humans cannot prevent and have not caused.

The sun is warmer and global warming proponent scientists are not eager to recognize the warmer sun as the cause of global warming. Keep in mind that many of these scientists receive and depend on government grants for their livelihood. Those grants would cease if they didn't create global warming hysteria.

The polar ice caps on Mars are melting. Are our CO2 emissions causing this as well?

It was warmer in the 1930s throughout the world than it is right now.

The notorious Kyoto accords exempt a number of the world's principal CO2 polluters, including China and India. This is indubitably an attempt to restrict the world's dominant capitalist economies.

Global warming proponents appear to be fearful of additional information as they declare the matter to be settled and that no further scientific research is needed.

Global warming "activists" and scientists chastise those who have diverse viewpoints. If you are confident in your science, you have no need to silence or punish those who disagree.

The infamous "hockey stick" graph that purports to show a sudden warming of the earth in the last few decades is a fraud. It ignored previous warming periods from 1000 to 1250 AD. In 1996, the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued a chart showing climatic change over a period of 1000 years. This graph showed a Medieval warming period in which global temperatures were higher than they are today. In 2001 the IPCC issued another 1000-year graph in which the Medieval warming period was missing. How convenient. Why has one scientist promoting the cause of man-made global warming been quoted as saying "we have to get rid of the medieval warming period?" Over the past 3,000 years there have been five distinct extended periods when the earth was measurably warmer than it is today.

In the last 100 years, the earth has only warmed one degree. In the United States, the single country with the most precise and accurate temperature measuring and reporting records, temperatures have only risen by 0.3 degrees centigrade over the past 100 years. The political UN estimate is double that.

There are approximately 160,000 glaciers around the world. The majority have never been visited or measured by man. The great majority of these glaciers are growing, not melting. The ice cap on the Antarctic becoming thicker. Side-looking radar interferometry shows that the ice mass in the West Antarctic is growing at a rate of over 26 gigatons per year. This reverses a melting trend that had persisted for the previous 6,000 years. Additionally, the interior of Greenland is gaining ice mass.

The sea levels have been rising ever since the last ice age ended. That was over 12,000 years ago. Estimates are that, during that time, the sea level has risen over 300 feet. The rise in our sea levels has been occurring long before man began creating anything but natural CO2 emissions.

During the last 20 years, the era of the highest carbon dioxide levels, global temperatures have actually decreased.

A reporter from National Public Radio refused to interview David Deming, an associate professor at the University of Oklahoma studying global warming, after his testimony to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee unless Deming would pronounce that man caused global warming.

Not long ago, that these same "global warming" scientists were warning us about "global cooling" and another impending ice age.  On July 24, 1974, Time Magazine published an article entitled "Another Ice Age" which began with the following paragraph:

"As they review the bizarre and unpredictable weather pattern of the past several years, a growing number of scientists are beginning to suspect that many seemingly contradictory meteorological fluctuations are actually part of a global climatic upheaval. However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age."

Plus, it has been pretty cold lately!

Having a Psychiatric Problem in the 20th Century

by Dan Dewey

In forming his beliefs, Thomas Jefferson had but one main rule - to think of principles himself and submit these principles to experience. Jefferson was a radical and had problems, no doubt, with authority. So, at face value, being told you have a problem with authority by a Veteran's Hospital psychiatrist who could not tell the difference between a mortar tube and a latrine wasn't too troubling - until I pondered on which authority he was speaking of. Spiritual? Secular? Rational?

If the spirit is the image of God, then that authority is Absolute truth, the Meaning to Life, our reason for Being. However, you say it, being true to this Authority is of first order. Nor do I question the authority of Jesus on virtue or Jefferson's authority on the Bill of Rights. I wouldn't even argue with the Biologists' authority on cell division - termed G.O.D., the "generator of diversity" (Klein, 1992). No, after pondering, I realized there is a problem indeed and it's choosing to live with spirit and reason in a schizophrenic world governed by irrational, self-serving authority.

My collection of genes, chemicals and conditioned behaviors are supposed to be easily manipulated, as easy as a dog could be trained to salivate at the sound of a bell. I'm a social deviant, pathological, because I refuse to be manipulated and don't accept the poisonous certainties fed to us by authorities? Go figure.

Anybody with a normal everyday problem can be routinely diagnosed in psychiatry as having a "mental illness" whether there is an actual basis in reality or not. Why? Because Psychiatry is based on "faith", not evidence. Throughout the DSM-IV (American Psychiatric Association, 1994) there are repeated affirmations of the lack of relevant empirical research findings bearing on issues concerning the construct and predictive validity of the categories (i.e., their scientific meaningfulness). DSM-IV consists largely of categories that have been introduced and retained, not on the basis of science, but on the basis of political consensus unconstrained by empirical research. The kid who fidgets is hyperactive or suffers from attention deficit disorder. (Over a million kids are currently on the government approved addictive amphetamine Ritalin, while simultaneously are being saved from drugs by the War on "some" Drugs.) Migraine suffers have a "pain disorder", low math scores get a "developmental arithmetic disorder", if you have poor composition or organization of written text you have "developmental expressive writing disorder", arguing with your parent's gets you "oppositional defiance disorder", and even a toddler who likes "Twinkies" over Gerber's spinach has a "feeding disorder" if continued over a period of time. Hello.

Why is the world schizophrenic and not me, you ask? Well, in a psychiatric sense, there are disturbances in emotional, behavioral and intellectual functioning here ha ha; but hold the thorazine, prolixin, haldol, or whatever else the Government has up it's sleeve - there is no withdrawal from reality, no fragmentation and no progressive deterioration as is evident in the world body. In a religious sense, the human spirit simply cannot split into fragments as our institutions, bureaucracies and culture has. This existential truth was known to schizophrenics long before 20th Century psychiatry stumbled into it.

Believe me I've chosen to withdraw, but unfortunately reality Is everything that remains after wishing the bad stuff away. I've tried to fragment my spiritual self, to split the Meaning of Life from the meaning to Daily Living in a calculated, technically well-managed way (May,1958) toward some kind of amnesia. Education, work, home schooling, family. Well, I tried. Schizophrenia just isn't within my power.

In contrast, the World, as defined by irrational authorities, has sophisticated mechanisms for withdrawal. 20th Century Mark Twain would call most, "Denials' damn denials, and statistics." Smoke and mirrors in the vernacular. Then we have the separation of Church and State - which is good, but Jefferson never intended for the values of each to be separate. (I sure wish I could compartmentalize. It must be convenient.) Witness our whole economy based on interest in complete disobeyence of what Moses, Aristotle and the great Christian teachers of the Middle Ages taught. Reaping what hasn't been sown is now described as interest or investment and is defined by law, not moral teaching.

According to Gross (1998) in The End of Sanity, "blatantly irrational behavior is rapidly being established as the norm in almost every area of human endeavor." (This is not stunning news as Swift once observed that "Man is not a rational creature, he is only capable of reason.") Gross continued, "Americans know something without a name is undermining the nation, turning the mind mushy when it comes to separating truth from falsehood and right from wrong." Given this Wonderland climate, how does one guide a family without sacrificing sanity or spirit to one authority or another? How do you define, what is "due" Caesar or the Queen of Hearts for your children or yourself? From where do you choose a path, your coping strategies and therapies?

Buddha was a rich man and his family fully grown before he became a great teacher who taught detachment from worldly things. The greatest teacher of all, Jesus, never married, while enjoining us to "live like the birds". The great visionaries literally came out of the deserts - alone. None made choosing easy. All made their choices without the troublesome responsibility of family. None surrendered their choices to family or group, no doubt prompting Jefferson to write, "If I could not go to Heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all."

The paraphrase, "If we let the government decide what foods we eat, and what medicines we take, our bodies will soon be in a sorry state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny", has been widely attributed to Jefferson who exactly wrote, "Was the government to prescribe to us our medicine and diet, our bodies would be in such keeping as our souls are now." (Jefferson, 1792). The concept remains the same. I.E. Choice must be individual. It can't be Caesar's choice and God doesn't want it.

Well, I've searched the coping strategies toward alleviating the pain in my existence and found in the psychiatric literature that the single-most, therapeutic substance known to 20th Century man living in a schizophrenic world is marijuana. As an herb, it is arguably the least toxic substance in man's pharmacopoeia of psychoactives. (Young, 1988). Why is it then, that the government prescribes chemicals with page length adverse reactions in lieu of it? I'm not sure where physicians find their truth in between the Hippocratic Oath, their patient's well being and an irrational State. I've found my truths in Genesis 1:29 and the pudding of coping strategies.

So, how can you as an individual responsible for your own existence, survive against this pervasive subjugation of your soul by government and religious institutions with their certainties and choices engraved in tomes and on stones? Simply disobey.

So I now have a problem with irrational authority and I'm on my way to court again. But on the way I grieve for you, my brothers and sisters, as schizophrenic lifestyles and neurotic conformity are just as problematic and painfully anxious as the anxiety arising from the freedom to choose for yourself.

Two new books confirm global warming is natural and not caused by human activity. Today’s global warming is due not to human activity but primarily to a long, moderate solar-linked cycle.

Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1500 Years, by physicist Fred Singer and economist Dennis Avery and The Chilling Stars: A New Theory of Climate Change, by Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark and former BBC science writer Nigel Calder.

The facts are:

Most of the earth’s recent warming occurred before 1940, and thus before there was much human-emitted CO2.

Physical evidence shows 600 moderate warmings in the earth’s last million years. The evidence ranges from ancient Nile flood records, Chinese court documents and Roman wine grapes to modern spectral analysis of polar ice cores, deep seabed sediments, and layered cave stalagmites.

The reality is that we are in a moderate, natural, 1500-year climate cycle on the earth.

The world was warmer in the Roman Empire period and during the Medieval Climate Optimum (1000-1250 AD) than now.

The most blatant attempt to fabricate the Earth's temperatures was that of Michael Mann, Ph.D., University of Massachusetts, whose infamous graph of global temperatures from 1000-2000 AD became known as "the hockey stick". It showed a general sag in temperature from 1000-1920, leaving out the higher temperatures from 1000-1250 AD than we now have, then a huge leap. An investigation by a pair of Canadian researchers (see Essex & McKitrick, 2002) found that Mann's raw data, obtained by them with great difficulty, was flawed by every imaginable misuse and selection of data, including faulty use of tree ring widths, an old standard for weather estimation. Mature trees not only grow faster when they are warmer or have more rain, but also when there is more CO2, which was ignored by Mann.

Nonetheless, the global warming panic continues. Why even here in Florida, the temperature last night bottomed out at a freezing 32 degrees. Oh, the horrors of global warming.

HITLARY CLINTON FIBS ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

On January 27, 2007, while campaigning in Iowa, Hitlary said, "I believe we've got to take a strong stand on limiting our dependence on foreign oil. And we have a perfect example here in Iowa about how it can work with all of the ethanol that’s being produced here.”

Conversely, in 2002, Hitlary signed a letter that read in part: "There is no sound public policy reason for mandating the use of ethanol.”

As Al Gore would say, it’s “An Inconvenient Truth.”

I just love long presidential campaigns.

CANADIAN SOCIALIZED MEDICINE WAIT TIMES

How long will we be waiting for basic medical procedures in the United States under Socialized Medicine (or, as the political hacks call it, Universal Health Care)?

HITLARY VOTED FOR THE WAR BEFORE SHE WAS AGAINST IT

Over the weekend in a campaign speech, Hitlary Clinton said, “This was his decision to go to war with an ill-conceived plan and an incompetently executed strategy.”

This was the same “ill-conceived” plan that Hitlary voted for in 2002.

Aren't Presidential elections fun? The hypocrisy is already overflowing.

TEENS ADMIT TO KILLING PUPPY IN OVEN

Prosecutors said Joshua Moulder, 17, and his brother, Justin, 19, broke into a newly refurbished community center, where they tortured and killed the 3-month-old puppy by duct-taping the puppy's snout and paws and cooking the animal alive in an oven.

These brats should be duct-taped and placed in an oven for a brief period of time to afford them a taste of the experience they disgustingly bestowed upon the defenseless puppy.

GOVERNMENT CENSORSHIP OF FILM SCRIPTS

North Carolina Senator Phil Berger said there should be no First Amendment concerns because the producer would be seeking money from the state government under a film incentive program. But he did say that if constitutional questions confused the matter, it would be better not to have a film incentive at all.

Government should stay out of the film business for both financial and content matters.

THREE-YEAR-OLD'S TEMPER TANTRUM GETS FAMILY THROWN OFF PLANE

"…Many would say an unruly child is no reason to throw someone off a plane."

I believe that is a perfect reason. Parents need to control their children and that's the bottom line.

"I'm just proud of my son and his family," said the girl's grandfather.

So, the grandfather is proud of and endorses bad behavior. At least we know where the kid gets this attitude. From bad parenting and a lack of discipline.

I applaud the airline, which was AirTran. Hopefully, more airlines, restaurants and other businesses will follow this commendable example. Parents need to learn the responsibilities associated with raising kids and edify them to behave like good little humanoids.

APPARENTLY HITLARY HAD HER "I'M IN" ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO IN THE CAN FOR MONTHS

The foliage on the trees in the background indicates that this was taped much earlier than her perceived recent announcement. More political smoke and mirrors, which is certainly not the trustworthy behavior expected of a potential president.

NO-SPANKING BILL IN CALIFORNIA

California Assemblywoman Sally Lieber said, "I think it's pretty hard to argue you need to beat a child 3 years old or younger.” Under the proposed bill, spanking would be a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail or a fine up to $1,000.

Professor Robert Larzelere, who has studied child discipline for 30 years, said his research shows spanking is fine, as long as it's used sparingly and doesn't escalate to abuse.

Spanking is not beating or abuse. Additionally, we do not need the government intruding any further into our private lives.

THE GLOBAL WARMING MESS

The global warming hysteria continues.

Meteorologist James Spann comments on the political global warming hype and The Weather Channel’s Heidi Cullen and her attempt to discredit any meteorologist who disagrees with the politically correct and lucrative position of “global warming.”

NANCY PELOSI CAN'T COUNT

When you have a 100-hour plan, who’s counting.

According to Pelosi's count, it has taken the new congress just over 34 hours to pass the first five bills. However, congress has actually been in session more than 72 hours since being sworn in.

Not to worry, politicians in Washington apply these same math skills when planning the Federal Budget.

POLITICAL HACK HYPOCRISY CONTINUES IN CONGRESS

On December 5th then-incoming House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rep. Silvestre Reyes said that he wanted to see an increase of 20,000 to 30,000 U.S. troops as part of a “stepped up effort to dismantle the militias.” Then, last week, President Bush announced his plan, which included additional troops to be deployed to Iraq, virtually matching Mr. Reyes' recommendation. Hours after Mr. Bush announced his proposal, Mr. Reyes said that such a troop buildup was unthinkable saying, "We don't have the capability to escalate..."

I guess this is similar to other political hacks voting for the war before voting against the war.

WE NEED TO RAISE THE MINIMUM WAGE, BUT APPARENTLY NOT IN AMERICAN SAMOA

Del Monte Foods Company, which is a subsidiary Starkist Tuna, is based in San Francisco, which is coincidentally Nancy Pelosi's home district. They are also one of the major employers in American Samoa. The average wage for tuna workers there is $3.62 an hour. Yet they have been conveniently excluded from the minimum wage increase. If you can't raise a family on $5.15 an hour, how are these poor Samoans expected to support their families on substantially less?

Phoenix Republican Congressman John Shadegg said, "Simply put: It is unethical to provide a special benefit to a company in any member of Congress' hometown."

I agree. However, the political hypocrisy continues.

America's Most Bizarre and Politically Correct College Courses

STUDENTS KICKED OFF SCHOOL BUS FOR SPEAKING ENGLISH

Rachel Armstrong sent her kids to pick up the bus as usual Monday, but after the driver let the kids on, he told them he would not pick them up again. He also said he wouldn't take them home that afternoon. They were told they couldn't get on because they speak English.

Administrators at St. Paul Public Schools admit the district made a mistake when it stranded the kids at school. However, the district points out, that particular bus route serves one of three language academies.

Apparently English is not one of the three approved languages.

THE FOOD POLICE ARE JUST BEGINNING

Be prepared for additional foods to be banned that “they” deem to be unhealthy.

We have an historical reference. When the anti-smoking zealots started out, they too went after a relatively small target by demanding non-smoking sections on airplanes. That success emboldened them to demand no smoking on planes at all and in airports as well. Then came laws against smoking in restaurants. Now we have laws prohibiting smoking in outdoor areas and private residences. Had the anti-smoking zealots revealed their entire agenda when they started out, they would not have been nearly as successful. They would have encountered too much resistance.

If banning a fat that's only two percent of our daily caloric intake is wonderful, why not ban saturated fats, the intake of which is much higher? Then there's the size of restaurant servings. Instead of a law simply requiring restaurants to label the calories in a meal, there will be laws setting a legal limit on portions.

The political hacks plan on using the police power of government to dictate what we can and cannot eat. I, personally, do not want the government interfering with my diet.

Walter E. Williams calls the political attack on New York City’s restaurants “tyrannical double-talk.”

Sticking it to Low-Skilled Workers

If government can raise wages by decree, why are the popular proposals so stingy? What good is a paltry buck or two extra? Let's really do something for the poor. Let's raise the minimum wage to $20 an hour. Even better, $50!

According to a study done for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "minimum wages have virtually no effect on the careers of most workers." The higher minimum wage is a feel-good law. A slight increase will pass because politicians and poverty activists will be able to say they have "done something" for the poor, while the victims of the policy go unnoticed.

As always, John Stossel brilliantly analyses about the myths of the minimum wage.

Social Security for illegal aliens

An agreement the Bush administration reached with Mexico on Social Security benefits would allow illegal aliens granted amnesty in the future to claim credit for the time they worked illegally.

The key word is “illegal” and apparently President Bush endorses these illegal activities.

Most Americans Want Public Policies to Prevent Obesity

Seventy-two percent said they would support government policies requiring insurance companies to cover obesity treatment and prevention programs.

Bernard Fuemmeler, an assistant professor in the department of community and family medicine at Duke University Medical Center, in Durham, N.C. calls this an “obesity epidemic.” Mr. Fuemmeler should first learn the definition of the word “epidemic.”

Epidemic: affecting many persons at the same time, and spreading from person to person in a locality where the disease is not permanently prevalent.

I do not believe that obesity is spread from person to person. If I sit next to an obese person on a bus, I am unlikely to become obese as a result of this contact. Therefore, this is not an epidemic.

Kathryn M. Kolasa, a professor in the department of nutrition services and patient education at East Carolina University said, “…people continue to say that it costs more money to eat healthy, when it has been demonstrated time and again you can eat healthy at no greater cost.”

And you think health insurance is expensive now? This is just what we need, more mandatory coverage. Losing weight is simple if you actually desire to accomplish this task. Eat healthy and get a reasonable amount of exercise. You don’t need insurance for that.

BILLS, BABIES AND TRAILERS

Oh my.

The facts are:

This woman is 21 and her twins are five-years-old. If you do the math correctly, they were born when she was 16 which means she got pregnant at 15.

Her job skills do not extend beyond her ability to position merchandise on the shelves of dollar stores.

She is unmarried but engaged, and is eight-months pregnant with an additional child she obviously cannot afford to properly raise.

This woman is facing tough times because she was careless and irresponsible. Actions have consequences. Hopefully, responsible parents can utilize this an educational example for their own children.

HOW OLD IS THE GRAND CANYON?

THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE WON'T SAY

Grand Canyon National Park is not permitted to give an official estimate of the geologic age of its principal feature, due to pressure from Bush administration appointees. "In order to avoid offending religious fundamentalists, our National Park Service is under orders to suspend its belief in geology," stated PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch.

Once again, we must cater to the hyper-offended masses in our politically correct world. These are people who's faith in God is so weak that they refuse to recognize any information, no matter how scientifically sound, that may challenge any facet of their fundamental religious beliefs. How sad.
